What is the Pelvic Floor?

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the bottom of your pelvis. These muscles work to provide support to organs, resist intra-abdominal pressure, maintain continence, and perform sexual functions. The rectum, urethra, and vagina all pass through the pelvic floor. Dysfunction in pelvic floor muscles can affect any or all of these structures leading to conditions such as incontinence, pelvic pain, and organ prolapse. Pelvic Floor Muscle Therapy treats the root cause of these conditions, restoring your confidence and improving overall quality of life.

Patient Experiences

“In a few short weeks, I have been able to improve my strength and gain confidence back so that I can participate in activities I love, like exercising and laughing with my family, without worry! It was uncomfortable to reach out for help with this issue, but my therapist eased those fears right away. She explains things in a way that I can understand and has given me the tools that are practical for my lifestyle so I can maintain my progress. I encourage anyone experiencing incontinence issues to reach out to Advanced PT; they’re great!”

Alison has been amazing. I had no idea what post operative pelvic floor therapy meant before going in. Alison has made me extremely comfortable and knowledgeable about what she’s doing. She explains everything in detail and makes sure you understand what she’s doing. I am very glad my surgeon recommended Advanced Physical Therapy for post operative therapy.

Oh my word, where do I begin. The people here are amazing. They treat you like family the moment you walk into their clinic. After getting married I was having a lot of discomfort. I was referred to Alison for pelvic floor therapy. Who knew it was a thing! She is extremely knowledgeable and gave me so much insight on what to do in certain areas of discomfort. I will forever be grateful for this caring clinic and always look forward to seeing them throughout the week. Will be referring others here in the near future!

Alison and Erin are exceptional pelvic floor and occupational therapists! Both of these women are kind, sincere, and have a honest desire to help anyone with a variety of concerns/issues. Alison helped with me with pregnancy pain, pelvic floor pain, pelvic floor strengthening/control pre and post delivery, my headaches, diastasis recti, leg/hip pain, and she worked with my on positioning during daily living tasks to reduce pain and improve function. Alison’s desire to help me and for me to maintain long term results was so evident. Erin was very helpful and encouraging when I saw her as well! They’re a terrific team! Highly recommend them!!

After having a baby in February, I was having some discomfort. A friend gave a glowing review after receiving Pelvic Floor Therapy at Advanced Physical Therapy. I had to check it out! From the moment I called, I was very impressed!

She made what could have been a very uncomfortable experience very easy, was extremely professional and, quite honestly, amazing. I almost didn’t make the appointment for therapy just out of fear of being mortified, this honestly was so far from how each appointment actually was. Great facility and caring staff, what more could you want?
